My name is Ungku Muhammad Ibrahim and I am a photographer.

I picked up photography a few years ago all thanks to my aunt who gave me my first camera on my birthday. I have never stopped taking pictures since.

I brought out my camera to a local drum and bass gig and just started snapping pictures and soon after, in 2004 I started taking pictures of international DJ’s and performers like Goldie, Gangstarr, Beastie Boys and Jurassic 5 at various locations for Exitmusik, a regional music community website. It was a great way to combine my love for music and photography.

I was soon employed by a local clubbing community website Whosgoing.sg and went out every weekend to capture the hip and happening people that were in the many various clubs around the island.

I was lucky enough to accompany local sitcom actor, Chew Chor Meng, on an 11 day charity drive from Singapore to Chiang Mai (Thailand) and back.

My pictures have been published in such distinguished publications like Juice Magazine, Knowledge Magazine, CIO Asia and even the Today Paper.

Online, my pictures have been used for websites like Exitmusik.com, Whosgoing.sg, Xin.sg, Today Paper Online, Emerald Hill Group and Homeclub.

I also shoot many events like Clarke Quay’s 1st Anniversary VIP Party 2008, Good Vibrations Festival 2007, The American Club 60th Anniversary 2008 among others.

I hate photoshop but it is a necessary evil to get the picture I want at times and I have been told countless times that i look like the wrestler, “The Rock”.

ARTIST STATEMENT

As a photographer, I try to shoot images that capture the moment and emotion that is timeless no matter how big or small. I always approach every event or assignment as something organic that is always evolving and changing that I am merely documenting what happens along the way. I always try to inject a sense of fun in my work but I never take things too lightly. I am constantly striving to create even better images to push the envelope in terms of technical ability, composition, lighting and attention to detail.
